Don Kowalsky
- Don is the owner here at Kowalsky Racing
Engines. He has been building engines since
the 1960's ! He went to work at Sonny's
Automotive when he was in high school. After
being there for close to two decades, he
ventured out on his own and started Kowalsky
Racing Engines. Don worked directly with Ford
Motor Co in developing the first Ford V-6 to
win in the Nascar Bush series, driven by Mark
Martin. Don was also an accomplished
competitor in IHRA modified and held many
records. Don has built engines that have won
championships at all levels of racing. Don has
been blessed with many loyal customers over
the years and looks forward to many, many more
championships and victories.
Jason Kowalsky
- Jason is the only son of the owner, Don.
Jason has literally grown up in the engine
building business. He can run any machine in
the shop and does so on a regular basis. He
races a former Todd Bevis built Pro Stock
Cobalt in the very competitive Top Sportsman
class and he does it with a naturally
aspirated small block! He's gone as fast as
4.73 at 145mph in the 1/8 ! He also has a 2006
GTO built by Vanishing Point Race Cars with a
Pro Charged small block Chevy engine that
should make in excess of 2000 hp .
J.C. Childress
- J.C. has been around racing most of his
life. After a four year enlistment in the
Marine Corps, he went to work for Sox & Martin
on the Pro Stock Truck team. When the team
retired at seasons end, he worked with Ronnie
Sox match racing. After Ronnie stopped match
racing, J.C. worked with chassis builder, Gary
Wisecarver. J.C. is currently building a new
NHRA Super Stock Chevy II which is also a
tribute car to Grumpy Jenkins. He runs the
Speed Shop at Kowalsky Racing Engines and also
does a lot of the welding in the shop.
Matt Lawrence
- Matt has been at Kowalsky Racing Engines for
several years. He races a 275 radial tire
Mustang with 6.0 liter Chevy LS engine. Matt
currently holds the MPH record for PTRA and is
a former ET record holder. His Mustang has
gone as fast as 5.18 at 135 mph in the 1/8 at
3250lbs ! Matt also tunes cars on a chassis
dyno in the evenings. He's a very well rounded
young man and is a great asset to Kowalsky
Racing Engines.
